Benefits of Drinking Water For Weight Loss and What You Need To Know:

Water fills you up:

Did you know that often when we feel hungry, we’re actually thirsty? Yep, it’s true! So grab that water bottle and drink up. Adequate hydration will also help you be less likely to snack because your body is properly hydrated! So by skipping the snack and drinking up, you’re saving yourself some undesired extra calories. Drinking plenty of water also acts as a natural appetite suppressant. Which will help you decrease your daily calorie intake. So next time you are headed to a party or out to dinner; Drink 8-10 ounces of water before you go, and you will significantly reduce your caloric intake consumed while you’re out! That’s a win, my friend! This trick helps me out a lot and keeps me from overeating.

Avoid Dehydration:

Dehydration or lack of water is your body’s worst enemy. Even mild dehydration can derail your metabolism. In a recent study from the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism drinking, just 17 ounces of water can increase your metabolic rate by 30% in men and women! That is quite the boost! The increase occurs in the first 10 minutes but will continue to increase for 30-40 minutes after drinking!

*I do need to note here that although sports drinks and energy drinks are touted as the ultimate rehydration advocate, these sugary drinks are not your friend! Stick with pure electrolytes to add to your water, or stick to plain water! I use Keto-Beam electrolytes myself to help me stay properly hydrated and avoid an electrolyte imbalance. They also help me to prevent muscle cramps {Use Code ANDIE20 For 20% off}

Drink Cold Water First Thing:

Drinking 1-2 glasses of ice-cold water first thing in the morning will get your body’s metabolism revved up and going! Your body will have to work hard to adjust its body temperature back to where it prefers to be, thus helping you get your metabolism started on the right track! As a bonus, your body will need extra energy expenditure (burns more calories) to do so!

Drink Water First Thing In The AM:

Beyond giving your metabolism a boost, drinking within the first 15 minutes of walking will get your bowels moving and help keep them clean. This helps keep me regular, I started doing this a while back, and it has become a habit that helps out a lot. Having a healthy, happy gut will also help with weight management.

Water Will Help You Detox:

Water keeps you healthy and in good health. Drinking an adequate amount of water will help you continually flush toxins from your system that can cause you to become ill—allowing you to improve your immunity and maintain your healthy lifestyle.

How Much Water Should You Drink During Physical Activity?

To maintain proper hydration during a workout, aim to drink 15-20 ounces before your workout and 8 oz for every 15 minutes of exertion. This will ensure that you stay properly hydrated and on track! Plus, the water will provide improved energy levels, increasing your overall performance during a workout.

How Do You Calculate Your Daily Water Intake Goal?

The old adage of 8 – 8 oz glasses of water, works but might not meet your needs to increase weight loss. A good place to start is to drink 2/3 of your body weight in liquid ounces. So if you weigh 150 lbs, you should drink at least 100 ounces of water. I try to drink as close to a gallon of water a day as I can. This has helped me quit the mindless snacking and keep my metabolism revved all day long! Getting the right amount of water makes all the difference.

Drink Water To Power Up!

Being properly hydrated helps you not feel sluggish and will help you stay active and alert throughout the day, which will, in turn, keep you burning more calories throughout the day, not just during your workout. Skip the sugary beverages and caffeinated diet soda and drink water instead. You’ll consume fewer calories, and you’ll avoid the “crash.”

For those of You Who Do Not Like Water:

Without fail, when I am teaching about the importance of water intake, there will be at least one person who does not enjoy plain water. And my answer is always to think outside the box and get creative! The human body needs water; heck, we are made of water. It is vital for our healthy functionality! I will always tell you to stir clear of sugar, caffeine-laden drinks. Stick with water or healthy hydration-promoting options like flavored mix-ins, which are generally low in calories and will provide you some flavor! OR try some of my fruit infusion water recipes. These little concoctions are tasty and add a lot of flavors if bland water is not your jam. Or try lemon water, a super simple way to add a bit of flavor, and lemon water is fantastic for a power boost of alkaline goodness.

Do not forget to include water in your weight-loss program! It is crucial to get the scale moving in the right direction. So pretty, please make sure you are drinking enough and using it in your arsenal to increase metabolism, energy, and health! You’ll be amazed by the change these minor tweaks to your routine can do too! Not only will it help you get to a healthy weight, but it will also increase your overall bodily function, and your skin will never look better!
