I have become the “Mikey” of trying these crazy Pinterest diets and detox waters. Remember those Life cereal commercials from your childhood where the cereal bowl keeps being passed down the line, and no one wants to try the cereal themselves, but they urge “Mikey” to try it. Well, consider me your “Mikey” I’ll take on all these viral Pinterest crazes and give you my humble, honest opinion.

Although detoxes often get a bad rap, detox water can help you with weight loss and provide you with a lot of health benefits. It’s a great way to reset your system and align yourself with a healthy diet if you have gotten off track and have a hard time succumbing to cravings.

So let’s dive right into the health benefits of detox water.

Scientific evidence shows the benefits and health claims of water detoxing go beyond quick weight loss. I get it; losing a quick five to eight pounds in a week feels terrific! This usually is excess water weight we carry around. that And seeing that scale victory can be a quick win. We need to stay motivated on our weight loss journey. I have learned over the years that your overall health and wellness far exceed the importance of a number on the scale. So yes, detox recipes will help you lose weight and get that flat belly. But more importantly, you are doing some amazing work to flush toxins and send some much-needed love to your internal organs. Good health = wealth

Jillian Michael’s Detox Water

Ingredients

  • 60 ounces Purified Water Or 2 liters of water (You may use regular water but filtered or distilled water is best)
  • 2 TBS Cranberry Juice Pure cranberry juice is always best, but ocean spray diet juice works as well.
  • 2 TBS Lemon Juice (preferably from fresh lemons)
  • 1 Tea Bag Dandelion Tea Stewed ( I found my tea at Walmart in the beverage aisle near the crystal light)

Instructions

  1. This is a replacement for normal water intake and not a meal replacement!

Recipe Notes

  • I do recommend sticking with more natural ingredients. When I first reviewed this detox, I used what I had on hand at the time, but after doing this detox multiple times, I have the most positive effects when I use organic ingredients.
  • You will need to make a fresh batch every day for the length of the cleanse.
  • Drink the entire pitcher of water daily.

Does Jillian Michael’s detox drink actually work?! 

Now for the part, you have been waiting for… Does the Jillian Micheal’s Detox Tea Work!?? In my humble, honest opinion, it does! I just added the ingredients to my gallon jug of water that I drink daily and chugged away! It does have a somewhat acquired taste. The first day I had to force myself to chug it… But after a bit, I got used to the taste. I see a few others added stevia and Splenda to theirs to help sweeten it up. Not sure if I would like that, but I wanted to throw it out as an option if you are struggling to get the drink down.

After a couple of days, I saw a visible decrease in excess “bloating” around my middle. Gotta love that!! It definitely cleaned me out. (I tried thinking of a classy way of saying this… )

After a week of indulgence, I would recommend this detox water to help get you back on track or lose the vacation pounds you may have gained. Or to slim down before a big event.

Bottom Line: It does receive my stamp of approval!

What should I eat while detoxing?

This seems to be a totally legit question and one I ask myself all the time. To make the most of your detox, you’ll want to keep your diet very clean and limit carbs and sugar. No fun, I know – but if you’re going to lose weight fast, this is what you need to do, sadly.

When should I drink detox water?

Make your drink and drink it ALL day long to avoid having to pee in the middle of the night, which is the worst – stop drinking a couple of hours before you go to bed. I highly recommend drinking 8 ounces first thing in the morning. (this detox water recipe can be made the night before.

Can I exercise while detoxing?

Absolutely – Make sure you keep it light- as long as you are not going crazy and running miles upon miles. Try light yoga or some LISS (low-intensity steady-state cardio); these are your best options!

Will I be irritable?

Possibly. You are cutting sugar, carbs, and caffeine – that will make anyone a little bit crazy. But use this mind ninja hack and tell your brain you are choosing this. Seriously, you can talk your brain into some crazy shiz.

How often should I detox?

I do not recommend detoxing on a daily basis. I believe a quarterly detox is a great way to reap the benefits of detoxing.
